- The Los Angeles District Attorney’s office has charged Tory Lanez with the shooting of Megan Thee Stallion.
- Lanes’ trial began on Monday and Meghan’s former bodyguard is scheduled to testify on Friday.
- Meghan’s attorney confirmed to Insider that her former bodyguard, Justin Edison, is nowhere to be found.
Megan Thee Stallion’s former bodyguard is missing after failing to testify Friday at Tory Lanez’s trial on criminal shooting charges, her attorney said.
“I can confirm that Justin Edison, Meghan’s bodyguard, was about to testify in court, did not appear, and is now missing,” Alex Spiro, Meghan’s attorney, told Insider. He added that “law enforcement authorities are investigating the matter.”
Edison’s last Instagram post is dated December 2nd. Besides working as a bodyguard, he is a certified physical trainer, according to his page. Details surrounding when and where he was last seen are unclear.
Lanes, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, has been charged by the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office with shooting Meghan in the feet after a small gathering at Kylie Jenner’s home during the early morning hours of July 12, 2020. Rapper Love has denied shooting. Megan, whose real name is Megan Pete. The two other people present at the crash are Megan’s former best friend and former assistant, Kelsey Harris, and Lanes’ driver, Joaquan Smith.
Prosecutors and the defense team agree that an altercation occurred in the car as the group left Jenner’s home, though they give conflicting descriptions.
While Edison wasn’t present the night of the dispute, Harris texted him from the car: “Help. Tory shot the MiG 911,” prosecutors said in court this week.
The day after the shooting, Edison went to the Lanes’ home to pick up Megan’s belongings, Deputy District Attorney Alexander Butt said during opening remarks Monday. Butt said Edison told prosecutors that Lenz admitted he was “very drunk” and fired in the air and on the ground the night of the accident.
Lenz was charged with assault with a semi-automatic firearm, personal use of a firearm, and carrying a loaded and unregistered firearm in a motor vehicle. Lenz was also charged with a new charge earlier this month of discharging a firearm with gross negligence in connection with the conflict.
Lenz pleaded not guilty. If convicted, Lenz faces up to 22 years in prison.
On Tuesday, Meghan testified that Lanes shot her. She said she initially lied about the incident because of her fear and mistrust of the police and because she did not think the “big boy club” music industry would believe her.
“When I get out of the car, I hear Tori say ‘Dance you bitch,'” Megan said in her testimony, adding that the gunfire started immediately. “I froze. I’m in shock, I’m scared. I can’t believe he’s shooting me.”
The trial is scheduled to resume on Monday.
The LAPD and the District Attorney’s office did not immediately respond to Insider’s request for comment.
