A few days before the premiere of the highly anticipated fifth season of “Yellowstone,” Paramount+ has released new photos of Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren on the pre-show “1923.”
A series of joint photos of Ford and Harrison on Instagram reads “Meet Jacob and Kara Dutton.”
According to the studio, the show “will explore the early twentieth century when epidemics, historical drought, the end of Prohibition, and the Great Depression both plagued the Western Mountain and the Duttons they call home.”
“Yellowstone” currently stars Kevin Costner as John Dutton, nephew of characters Jacob and Kara.

Speaking to Vanity Fair about their characters, Meryn revealed that she and Ford have no children on the show, but are in love.
“They’ve been married for a long time,” Meren explained. “They didn’t have children, so they didn’t have the feeling that children were bringing them together.”
“An incredible partnership where you can be true to one another, and your love and support for each other are inclusive, but at the same time no longer love or lust is blind,” is how she describes Dutton’s relationship. “You are more clear about your relationship, but the relationship becomes stronger for this very reason.”
Ford echoed her sentiments, saying his characters and Merren’s were “completely wrapped into each other.”
“There is very little to support them other than themselves and the hard work and investment they make in their future and their families. It’s a tough life, and one filled with not only physical but moral challenges as well,” Harrison said.
In developing her character, Mirren notes that she sees Kara as having emigrated to Montana from Ireland.
“One of the things I wanted so badly was that she spoke with an Irish accent, not an American accent. It has always bothered me some Westerners that you have all these people speaking with modern American accents when in fact a lot of them were fairly recent immigrants.”

Mirren expanded, “The great Irish emigration to America, due to the Potato Famine, was in the late nineteenth century. And that’s just as true of Cara. She’s now in her late sixties, we imagine. So she would have come, I guess, as a young woman from Ireland. I think this is one of the extraordinary elements of America. The people who have arrived and are still arriving, are people of tremendous resilience, tremendous courage and independence.”
Ford’s character for his part is the brother of James and Claire Dutton.
“He’s the silver guy,” Ford said. “He’s in charge of this branch of the family. These are two people who have very strong ties to each other and are facing really complicated circumstances.”
