Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling went viral earlier this summer when paparazzi photos of them shooting their new movie “Barbie” began circulating online.
During a recent appearance on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon,” Robbie admitted that she and Gosling weren’t quite thrilled when hundreds of fans started showing up to watch them film as they went out to film on location in Los Angeles.
Pictures of the two on set were all over the place over the summer and added to the hype surrounding the film, but Robbie cited the viral experience as one of the most embarrassing things to happen to her. When Fallon uploaded the viral photos, Robbie explained how embarrassed they were.
“I can’t tell you how terrified we were, by the way,” she told Fallon. “We look like we’re laughing and having fun, but we’re dying on the inside. We’re dying. I was like, ‘This is the most humiliating moment of my life.’ “
RYAN GOSLING could be the latest addition to the upcoming ‘OCEAN’S ELEVEN’ show with MarGOT ROBBIE
Ruby said she knew some fans would want to come see the making of the movie and catch a glimpse of her and Gosling, but she never expected so many people to attend, noting that there are “hundreds of people watching all the time.”
She explained, “I mean, I knew we had some outdoor shoots in L.A. I knew once you did an outdoor shoot, you’d get two doors.” “There’s probably going to be a small crowd of people who will notice because we, you know, stand out a little bit in those outfits. So, I knew there was going to be a little interest and maybe some pictures would come out in there, but not like it happened. It was like crazy.”
In the photos, Gosling and Robbie appeared on their skates wearing bright pink outfits, knee pads, and fluorescent elbows. Ruby stars in the movie as Mattel’s famous Barbie doll, and Gosling plays the doll’s friend, Ken.
During an interview with British Vogue last year, Robbie opened up about how people came up with her to express their doubts about the film. But, she added, once we found out who directed and wrote the movie, the doubts subsided.

“People generally hear Barbie and think, ‘I know what this movie is going to be like.’ Then they hear Greta Gerwig writing and directing it, and they say, ‘Oh, well, maybe I don’t…’
Gerwig wrote and directed 2019’s Little Women and Lady Bird, the latter of which has a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
