What will you play this weekend? (October 22)

Fabulous. This week has been full of news, and we’ll be hesitant to add more for fear of an explosion. After a long wait for the releases of Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope and Persona 5 Royal on the Switch, who would have thought Bayonetta 3’s drama would overshadow it all? Welcome to the world of Nintendo!

Aside from keeping our adorable readers updated with all the twists and turns in the aforementioned voice acting fray, we’ve been busy arranging every Mario Party title before releasing the first two games on the next Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack. month, dividing all the new Pokémon Scarlet and Violet games into layers (completely realistic and thematic, of course).

We were also able to get some brand new games this week. From Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope and Persona 5 Royal, to the less fun Nickelodeon Kart Racers 3: Slime Speedway.

Hopefully this weekend will be less drama filled, so we all have time for fun games. Below, a group of our writers have shared their game plans for the coming days and we’d like you to do the same! Read on and then be sure to leave a comment below to let us know what you’ll be playing this weekend.

Happy reading!

I looked at the Nintendo Gods this week. I finished my tonic last weekend (very sad) and then had to renew my NSO membership this week (which is also sad), but I chose to go for the expansion pack this time And the I’m headed away for the weekend, so I have two long train rides ahead (big happy)!

All this new power means I’ll definitely get some N64 titles. In danger of looking like a literal kidThe N64 was launched before I was born, so there are a lot of gaps in my knowledge that I’m keen to fill. I’m thinking of starting with some F-Zero X and Banjo-Kazooie before diving into Star Fox 64.

Of course, the power might go right into my head and I’d end up playing Ocarina of Time for the 200th time, but would that really be such a terrible thing? Yes, that’s what Jim will do, you should play some different games.

Being a complete WH40K nut, I’m looking forward to spending some quality time with Warhammer 40,000: Shootas, Blood & Teef. October is coming to a close, but not without two other stellar AAA releases last week that I hope to find time to enjoy: the much-anticipated and rumored 5 Royale character (my first time with the game!) and charming new antics Mario + Rapids: Sparks of Hope. Add my current SD Gundam Battle Alliance campaign and I’m pretty sure this weekend will fail to fulfill all of the video game related missions planned.

Game of the Week (still!) NieR: Automata. The game has been living free rent in my head since its launch. Very happy with this stellar transformation.

This weekend, I’m going to be playing something I absolutely don’t need to replay – Persona 5 Royale. I beat Vanilla Persona 5 before on PS4, but didn’t get Royal when it was released, so I really want to know if the changes make this game better. I won’t have much time to make a good impact on the story, but I still look forward to visiting the Shujin Academy in Tokyo.

I’ll also pick up Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope for some cute and light fun. The easier difficulty doesn’t bother me (I’m terrible at strategy games!), and neither does the lack of multiplayer. I really want to play something silly and colorful. I suppose Persona 5 fits into this brief too!

Listen… you know what I’m playing this weekend. Everything you do. Resident Evil 4. How can I not?! After watching the amazing gameplay demo of the upcoming new release (obviously not coming to Switch), I stumbled, once again, to a game that brings me happiness and happiness without limits. I’m not sure if I’ll take my time and test the game as it was intended before the new version launches, or just go straight through it quickly. we will see…

Elsewhere, I’ve been playing a bit of Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze; One of the best platform games ever made, without a doubt. It’s great to be back at it again, because I haven’t touched it in a good few years. However, whether I finish this weekend is another story.

This weekend, I’m going to watch my partner finish Virtue’s Last Reward, play a lot of Disney Dreamlight Valley, and finish Limbo (which I don’t really want to do, ugggggggggggggggggggggggh).

But! I also wanted to give a shout-out to the computer game I want to recommend. It’s called The Case of the Golden Idol, and if you enjoyed Obra Dinn’s comeback, you should definitely give it a try. I finished it in a few hours, but really liked it!!

We hope you enjoyed reading! Be sure to leave us a comment below with your weekend gaming plans!
