Andy Cohen can’t believe Bethenny Frankel is launching her new podcast “Rewives” after she’s been “smashing” the Bravo franchise for years.
During his Sirius XM radio show, “Radio Andy,” the Bravo boss explained why he told Page Six he was “shocked” by Frankel’s decision to start a podcast centered around her experience at the “Real Housewives of New York.”
“I was surprised by that because she’s been smashing the show for the past three years,” he said on Wednesday.
“So I was like, ‘She’s been talking about being toxic,’ and that and everything bad you could think has been carried off the show…and now she’s doing a ‘Housewives’ podcast brief.”
“I see her quotes, especially when she’s negative about the show. That’s why I was surprised.”
Cohen told us EXCLUSIVELY last week that he was “a little surprised” when he heard about Frankel’s new project after she left the franchise for good in 2019.
But again I was like, ‘Oh, that’s good, good for you.'” The more “housewives” podcasts the better, the Bravo king continued.
Frankel, who has starred in the reality series on and off since 2008, announced that she launched her “Housewives” rewatch podcast earlier this month.
She wrote on Instagram, “I’m going back to the Housewives…on my terms…and I’m going to say it all!”
However, many of the Skinny Girl founder’s former co-stars — and fans — were quick to criticize the reality star’s choice to return to the “Housewives” world.
Hoda Kotb says she was “shocked” when she learned that Bush…
A few days after Frankel’s grandiose announcement, the “desperate” businessman was dragged away by Luann de Lesseps.
“It’s so sad and pathetic that she has to turn to ‘The Housewives’ because of all her failed pivots since ‘Housewives,'” she said on an episode of “Everything Iconic,” adding that Frankel is committed to the “s–t” of all the women on the show.
Carol Radziwill — who starred in “RHONY” from 2012 to 2018 — also took some shots in the controversial Bravolebrity.
She built her brand by mocking and mocking women specifically at HWs & Betheny [sic]. You always get back to what you do best. I mean right out of the gate the other HW files are talking rubbish. lol. Good luck to her. Something will never change,” Radziwill tweeted at the time.
Despite all the backlash, Frankel defended her decision, saying she was taking control of her narrative after not being “proud” of her time on the Bravo series.
“This is my point, my story, my show, my experience versus a situation where we didn’t control the editing, we didn’t control the process, we didn’t control the people we surrounded ourselves with, the journeys we went on, we weren’t responsible,” she wrote in an Instagram story.
