Whoops…things took a dark turn this week white lotus Where lies and petty jealousy began to accumulateand we’re officially worried about who will survive next weekend.
As the sun rises in Sunday’s episode, Albie and Lucia are still engaged, and Ethan is still frowning. He grumbles to Harper, “I feel like you don’t believe me. It’s starting to drive me crazy.” She points out that they aren’t always honest with each other – including about how they aren’t attracted to each other anymore. (Stop). She worries that “something may have died” between them: “We’re too young to be this old.” But Ethan insists he is stressed from work and still loves her. But she couldn’t help but laugh at it. Meanwhile, Daphne Cameron is teased about Harper’s accusations: “What did I do this time?” But he just says he’s “strongly involved,” and they laugh and cuddle, because obviously infidelity is like foreplay for these two.
At the villa, Tanya reels from what she saw the night before and warns Portia to take things slow with Jack. She has a “strong hunch” that Quentin is not his uncle. (Uh, do you think so?) Dom and Bert plan to travel to the old country to trace their family roots, and Albie has a translator set up for them…and it’s Lucia! First, though, she and Mia corner Ethan in the hallway asking for their money as Harper looks on from afar. Albie introduces Lucia to Dom, and they act like they’ve never met – well, they do a lot more than that – and while driving, Lucia tells Bert that she works in “hospitality”. (Technically correct!) Oh, it’s Valentina’s birthday, and she’s delighted when Isabella agrees to meet her after work for a celebratory drink.
While Quentin plans a grand party in Tanya’s honor, Portia and Jack flee to the country; When you ask if he has any goals, he just laughs. He treats each day as a gift and doesn’t get involved in worries or plans, which is very much the opposite of Portia’s outlook. At the beach, Daphne leaves to get a massage, and Harper volunteers to go for drinks with Cameron, leaving Ethan to cook while he watches the two laugh together. Lucia finds out where Dom’s relatives live, but also notices Alessio following them. She gets into an argument with him, and though Dom and Albie try to protect her, she insists on leaving with Alessio, assuring Albie that she will see him tonight. Meanwhile, Ethan returns from his swim to find Harper and Cameron gone (she texted that she went to get her hat), and when he returns to his room, it has been locked with the padlock. He knocks on the door, and Harper claims she did it by accident, but the door between their room and Cameron’s is also open…and Ethan’s mind is spinning out of control.
Dom, Bert, and Albie track down their distant relatives, but are not greeted warmly: the Italians don’t speak any English, and an old lady chases them and curses at them while the artichokes shake them. Ethan is suspicious of Harper’s sudden good mood, but she says Cameron explained everything and cleared Ethan’s name. (Plus, Daphne teases that her masseuse looked like Timothée Chalamet with abs, which drives Cameron into an emotional frenzy.) Jack gets too drunk at lunch, spoiling Portia’s infatuation with him, and Quentin accompanies Tanya to the party, adding that he’s lined up some candy for her. The Arm: A “well-hung” gentleman named Niccolo offers them some lines of coke – and Tanya happily participates.
Valentina is ready to have her birthday drink with Isabella, but then Isabella asks her if she can take Rocco back to reception – because Rocco is her boyfriend. In fact, they are engaged! A heartbroken Valentina calls off her plans and heads to the bar for a martini, while an angry Ethan warns Cameron, “Stop flirting with my wife.” Burt feels devastated and unwelcome by their relatives (“There’s no homecoming…not for me anymore”) and gets drunk while watching Mia play the piano, complimenting her beautiful voice. Mia joins Valentina at the bar, and offers to celebrate her birthday with her. “I’ve never been with a woman before,” Valentina admits, as she pushes Mia away when she tries to kiss her. But she gives her the key to an empty hotel suite…
Lucia complains to Albi that Alessio will not let her go unless he gets a lot of money, adding: “I wish all men were like you.” In the suite, Mia sings “Happy Birthday” to Valentina before pushing her down on the bed to give her a special birthday present. Jack is too drunk to drive home, so an upset Portia has to drive him back to the hotel. Ethan is haunted by vivid visions of Harper and Cameron having sex while he and Harper go to bed. And Tanya ends up in a villa bedroom with Nicolo, where they have a great time. He pulls away for a minute, and you look at Quentin’s pictures – including one that looks like a young Quentin with a guy… Greg? Wearing a cowboy hat? So Tanya’s husband is Quentin’s long-lost cowboy?!?
At the hotel, a drunken Jack admits that Quentin really isn’t that rich. In fact, he was about to sell his villa, but “it’s making money now, isn’t it?” (You mean by taking it out on Tanya?) He adds that Quentin helped him when “he was in the king hole”: “Sometimes you do things you don’t want to do.” Completely naked, Tanya meets Nicolo, who leads her to bed. Tanya? You are in danger, girl.
