Stephen “tWitch” Boss reportedly left a suicide note that vaguely alludes to old challenges he faced before he passed away in a California hotel this week.
Law enforcement sources tell TMZ that the beloved DJ of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” left the note in his Los Angeles hotel room, setting his phone to airplane mode to make sure concerned family and friends couldn’t find it.
The newspaper indicated that this vaguely refers to previous challenges, which it said was not clear exactly what it was referring to.
The 40-year-old father of three apparently took an Uber from his home early Monday to the Oak Tree Inn, which was less than a mile from his $4 million Encino home, according to TMZ. .
Unable to reach him, his wife, Allison Holker — a professional dancer who met Boss on “So You Think You Can Dance” — raced frantically to the LAPD’s precinct to raise the alarm about his unusual behaviour.
His body was found by a hotel worker on Tuesday.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner confirmed the cause of death as suicide by a gunshot wound to the head with “no signs of foul play”. The case is officially closed.
Boss and Holker recently celebrated their ninth wedding anniversary.
They had three children: Zaya, 3, Maddox, 6, and 14-year-old Wesley, Holker’s daughter from a previous relationship whom Boss adopted.
“Steven lit up every room he entered,” Holker said in a heartbreaking statement confirming her husband’s death.
“He valued family, friends, and community above all else, and leading with love and light was everything to him. He was the backbone of our family, the best husband and father, and an inspiration to his fans.”
