DC Boss hints at 10 new superheroes that may be introduced in upcoming movies

Starting in November, director James Gunn of Marvel and DC will take on a new position as co-CEO of the newly named DC Studios — a job that will bring huge responsibilities in the superhero movie universe.

With the current DC Universe in disarray, fans will be watching Gunn closely as the franchise looks to build a cohesive story with some of the most iconic characters in comic book history. It seems that this plan is already in the works with the return of Henry Cavill as Superman in the long-awaited sequel man of steelbut DC has much more than just Clark Kent available for use on theatrical outings.

For now, the last remaining stories will come from the current list of DC movies Sparkle And the Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom It’s 2023, which leaves the table completely open for Gunn to add new characters to the mix. He already did it with two ejection strokes, suicide squad And the peace makerbut now he controls the entire DC catalog through his job as co-CEO of DC Studios.

And if his recent tweet is to be believed, he’ll delve deeper into this catalog before it’s too long.

James Gunn hints at new superheroes in the new capital on the way

James Gunn, the newly appointed DC Studios co-CEO, has taken to Twitter to indirectly harass a number of characters and superheroes who may be in the pipeline for future DC Universe movies.

Former Marvel/DC comic book writer Jerry Conway has congratulated Gunn on his new position, which Gunn has taken on to thank Conway indicated that Warner Bros. Discovery will do so “pull more” From Conway’s list of created characters.

“Thank you, Jerry! I’m sure we’ll be pulling some more deep tank for the characters you’ve created!”

Besides his work on Punisher and Mrs. Marvel for Marvel Comics, Conway has a number of notable creations that have already made their debut at DCEU. 2016 suicide squad Both Killer Croc and Slipknot, created in part by Conway, appear, although Slipknot is killed in this film and Killer Croc is not used in James Gunn’s suicide squad from the year 2021.

Gunn previously suggested who would be five of the most important characters in the future of the DCU, which features four main members of the Justice League alongside fan favorite Harley Quinn. Now, with Gunn indicating that Conway’s work will be used more in the new era of the DCU, the question is which particular of his characters will make their way to the big screen.

Well, The Direct is here to analyze the characters most likely created by Conway that could then be presented on the big or small screen:

1.) red cap

DC Comics

Red Hood is a fan favorite character who has been seen on numerous occasions in the television world, most recently with Colton Haynes’ Roy Harper in the Arrowverse and Curran Walters’ Jason Todd in titans.

With notable ties to both Batman and the Joker, Red Hood is known as one of the most violent characters DC has to offer, largely serving as a Gotham City vigilante in the comics for the past 70 years. He also has enough history as a solo character to be a star in his own right as WBD tries to reintroduce Batman into the bigger storyline with the DCU.

Adaptation potential: high

2.) Killer Frost

killer frost
DC Comics

Despite being considered both a hero and a villain throughout her long stay in the Arrowverse, Killer Frost boasts the strength and character to shine with just the right opportunity on future DC outings.

Multiple versions of Killer Frost have been seen in the comics, with its ice-based power lending well to Suicide Squad, Justice League, and other DC teams. Often used as an anti-hero, Mrs. Caitlin Frost can bring another darker and more mysterious character to the fore while displaying her superhuman strength dramatically than many of DC’s most famous heroes boast.

Adaptation probability: moderately high

3.) Power Girl

power girl
DC Comics

With the return of Superman Henry Cavill for man of steel 2 And Sasha Kali brought Supergirl to SparkleThe door may finally be open for another member of the Super-family to join the fight with the Power Girl.

Kara Zor-L is actually an older, more mature version of Supergirl from a different world, which could work well with the DC group to unlock the multiverse next year. Sparkle. And with this character notably absent from any DC movie live, it feels like the time is right to finally give her the starring look she’s earned after years of being an all-powerful heroine throughout the comics universe.

Adaptation probability: moderately high

4.) Vixen

vixen
DC Comics

As another veteran character used in the Arrowverse over the years, Vixen may finally be in line for her big screen debut as one of Gerry Conway’s biggest creations.

Vixen has the ability to harness the spirit of animals, and the ability to conjure the abilities of any creature that has ever lived thanks to her possession of an ancient artifact called the Tantu Totem. Not only will Vixen get its first live action movie should that decision be made, but it won’t look like any character coming to the big screen from Marvel or DC, especially since Marvel’s Falcon/Captain America hasn’t shown his comic. The ability to talk to birds yet.

Adaptation potential: Possible, but uncertain

5.) Firestorm

firestorm
DC Comics

Three different versions of Firestorm have made their presence felt throughout the Arrowverse’s decade of on-air time, and with no fire-reliant heroes on DC’s big screen, now might be the time to change that.

By boasting the ability to alter or modify the molecular structure of anything it can touch, including the weather, a firestorm will surely bring glow For drama with powers that haven’t been seen from any DCU hero yet. He’s also possibly one of the strongest heroes in the franchise as he flaunts his pyrotechnic abilities, and with he’s not quite on the big screen yet, he’s set to get that treatment.

Adaptation potential: who knows?

6.) Vibe

While Cisco Ramon was actually an important supporting character the whole time SparkleThroughout his run on The CW, he never had to take on the superhero character Vibe alongside Barry Allen.

Vibe’s powers include the manipulation of sound vibrations and other abilities associated with earthquakes, which are best compared to Chloe Bennet’s Daisy Johnson/Quake from Marvel’s Shield Agents. Having the ability to literally move the ground beneath anyone in their vicinity could make Vibe a powerful ally of the Justice League if they teamed up again.

Adaptation potential: Possible

7.) Spinner Count

Another one of Conway’s creations to shine in the Arrowverse came with Count Vertigo, who will bring his unique style and powertrain to any big screen project in the DC Universe.

His name says almost all about the kind of power he brings to the table, with the ability to cause dizziness or nausea in others while also being able to fly and show off magnetic shoes. Taking cues from past heroes while bringing his own flavor into the equation, The Count will bring a new kind of power dynamic to the DCU whether he’s acting as a hero or a villain.

Adaptation potential: not clear

8.) Plastic

While Conway has had more than his fair share of heroes he’s created for DC Comics, he’s developed a number of villains as well, including the explosive Plastique.

Originally an opponent of the aforementioned Flame Storm, Plastique has the ability to unleash explosive power from her body, making her a dangerous enemy to anyone standing in her way. It also takes pride in its ties to both the Justice League and Suicide Squad, which makes it a flexible piece of the puzzle and can straddle the line between good and evil.

Adaptation potential: It should be possible

9.) Felicity Smock

While many of the Arrowverse characters on this list have only been used in minor roles, Felicity Smoak was not one of those. She served as Oliver Queen’s main love interest throughout most of her tour Arroweight seasons, but she proved to be so much more because she helped run Team Arrow throughout the story.

She occupies a similar place in the DC Comics lore, often appearing in stories alongside Firestorm and showing off her expertise in technology and computers as she did in the Arrowverse. While Felicity may not end up becoming a leading heroine in the future DC Universe, there has to be a place for her to make an impact as more powerful minds enter the equation.

Adaptation potential: Possible

10.) Gypsies

While Birds of Prey has only had one live appearance as a team, there are more than a few members who could come for a ride should another movie happen, including another Conway creation in Gypsy.

Imbued with the abilities of casting illusion, precognition, and concealment, Gypsy will bring another magical and mystical player into the game after turning on Doctor Fate in black Adam. It would also franchise another powerful heroine who can vacillate between good and evil, having teamed up with both Birds of Prey and the Justice League during her time in the comics.

Adaptation potential: Possible

What other Conway creations will Gunn develop?

Besides the bigger names mentioned above, Gerry Conway’s work with DC straddles the company’s lineage with fan-favorite heroes and villains alike.

The artist has created two Batman villains in Mirage and Black Spider, the former having illusion casting power and the latter being a master fighter and weapons expert. Aquaman also has his own set of villains from Conway in The Deserters, an ancient Atlantean tribe, which can be explored either in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom Or the third solo movie of the hero.

Continuing with the Justice League core team, Conway’s Wonder Woman is often confronted with Kung, the Assassin of a Thousand Claws, an immigrant from Japan who can transform into animals thanks to a mystical influence.

Conway also created a character similar to Superman in Ultraa, who has a near-identical power set but grew up in the Australian Outback rather than Kansas, USA. Blok is Conway’s largest group of characters, which may be more similar to the MCU’s Korg in that it’s made of rock, although it can absorb incredible amounts of energy and grow to gigantic sizes like Black Adam’s Atom Smasher.

Currently, Gunn only officially began his role as co-CEO of DC Studios on November 1, so it may take some time until several of these characters are confirmed to appear in the growing DCU.

The only films currently on the list going forward are Sparkle And the Aquaman and the Lost Kingdomalthough reports have indicated that the studio is also planning to move forward with man of steel 2 Soon as well. But as the 2020s progresses, Conway’s work has a great opportunity to appear in multiple forms as the studio looks to build something great that fans desperately want to see.
