Kristen reveals which wife she “ended” her relationship with, Cody calls her “manipulative” and the other wives wonder if the former spouses are really “divorced” in the eyes of the church.
The final season of “Sister Wives” was a very tumultuous season for Kody Brown and his – now waning – wives.
In the first installment of the family’s Sister Wives: One on One special, Kody, Christine, Meri, Janelle, and Robyn take a look back at the family drama that ran throughout the show’s fifteenth season, with a very special focus on Kristen leaving the marriage. The group is officially forever. Five of them were interviewed separately for the show.
Christine has been at the center of most of the conversations for this hour, as host Sukanya Krishnan delved deeper with her, her ex-husband, and the other women about what led to her shocking decision to exit their arrangement. One of the first things that brought Krishnan up was that Kodi told Kristen before the breakup that he was no longer attracted to her, because she was not “faithful” to him.

“To hear that he wasn’t attracted to me, it was horrible to hear him being so awkward, right?” Christine said. “I just started thinking, it goes both ways. After he said I was like, ‘Oh, I’m done and it’s over.'” It was almost a relief, I’m not going to keep fighting about this and keep trying if you’re not attracted to me.”
But Cody told the host that he feels like his ex is “playing a game.” “Since we’ve been married, it’s been manipulation, pouting, tantrums, just the behavior of things,” he added, before claiming Kristen “lost” her when he told her he was hoping to reconcile with Meri after her hunting scandal. . We didn’t get a full reaction to the claim in this episode, but a promo for the sequel did include Kristen saying, “This is really frustrating and really insulting right now. There’s no way I wouldn’t endorse him and Meri having a great relationship. I never will.”
Cody explained that he “didn’t feel like it had to end”, when asked why it took him so long to accept the inevitable.
He added, “We’re not talking about destroying her and my intimate relationships, we’re talking about destroying this whole family bond, and it’s weird that there’s only one person who can do that.”

“I knew she was unhappy,” Janelle said when asked about the breakup. “I know, especially during Covid, there were more pegs driven. I think she finally got to the point where she knew that for her own happiness and self-preservation, she needed to do something.”
Meanwhile, Robyn said she was going [Kody’s] Butt to a therapist “if she started having some of the intimacy issues he and Kristen were dealing with — saying she would have forced him to ‘work through this stuff.'” She also said that she believes his “attractiveness” is based on someone’s behavior, saying she has seen him He would “dissolve” after a fight with some of the other wives if they could “figure something out and she was supportive and kind.”
The new wife then opened a new can of worms by saying that Christine had told her “she didn’t want a relationship with me” from now on – adding that it was “terrible and difficult”.
“I don’t know how not to get her to be my sister-in-law. It was really hard. I always thought Kristen would open herself up to me. When she said she was leaving, it took a really big dream for me,” Robyn continued. “I always imagined that when we were older, sitting there with our grandkids and having that fraternity, we saw some of these older women in our church. I just took it away.”
She added that if Kristen believes Robyn “sabotaged” her relationship with Cody, she is “mistaken” – declaring that “all she did was support her relationship with Cody”.

Kristen was the first to admit that she hadn’t had a “good relationship” with Merry or Robyn for “years” – though she didn’t think things between them were “bad” either. Recently, however, she has completely “ended her friendship” with Merry.
“I ended the friendship, I ended the relationship. It wasn’t safe for me, and I ended it,” Kristen said. “I straight up said to her, ‘No, we’re not going to be friends because I don’t trust you and I’m not going to do that myself anymore.'” “
She added, “We tried a little bit here and there in Vegas, but her treatment of me wasn’t nice.” “She wouldn’t be nice to me. She would put me down a lot in public situations. When she hit my walls, I was done. I never knew who to expect and it was so stressful.”

Meri, Janelle, and Robyn also discuss whether Cody and Kristen are technically “divorced.” Although they are not married in the eyes of the law, they are spiritually related. Deciding to leave, Kristen left the Mormon church, presenting an interesting situation to the group. Robyn explained that in order for them to be officially “divorced” in the eyes of the church, Kristen would have to be having an intimate relationship with another man. But, as Janelle notes, if Kristen doesn’t hold the same beliefs anymore, does that matter?
“If she were to go have her… her plan is to go and find her mate, and that would break her bond [with Kody]Rubin said.
Explaining the riddle, Janelle added, “In our church, you have to go through channels to be set free…But Kristen doesn’t believe in that anymore. But the contract is between two people.” “Does that apply to Christine if she doesn’t believe? I don’t know. You can’t make someone abide by rules they no longer believe in.”
She said she thinks Kristen is “looking for that deep connection, that deep companionship” going forward — and she’s looking forward to one day asking her, “Are you happy? Have you found someone who can finally give you what you need, that deep fulfillment?”
The rest of the hour revolved around the Meri-Christine-Kody reconciliation situation, but all the footage was released prior to the special. You can get a summary of what happened here.
