At least we no longer have to worry about whether the College Football Playoff Selection Committee will want to see it who – which game again. Washington entered Autzen Stadium and beat Oregon, 37-34, blocking a potential duck shot at redemption in the CFP as well as Heisman Cup hopes in centerback Bo Nix. Oregon also bounced off a predictable spot at Cotton Bowl as Washington is expected to land there.

However, the loss did not kill Oregon’s chance at the Pac 12 Championship. In fact, the ducks still controlled their own destiny in this regard. Oregon, USC, and Utah all have one conference loss, and Utes are visiting The Ducks this week.

TCU won 17-10 in Texas to consolidate its hold on the expected No. 3 seed. The win also earned him a place in the Big 12 Championship. Kansas State should preferably be an opponent of the TCU in that game. No matter which team the horned frogs will face, their opponent will face at least three losses.

Georgia and LSU are now set for the SEC Championship match after their wins in Mississippi and Arkansas. The ACC Championship Game is also official with Clemson facing North Carolina, with the latter beating Wake Forest to improve the score to 6-0 on the road this season and take his place in the title game.

The race on the Group of Five berth in the Cotton Bowl became more and more clear on Saturday. The UCF won in Tulane for control of the AAC race. Each team suffers one loss in a league game (as is the case with Cincinnati), but the Knights hold a tiebreaker over the other two teams. If the UCF wins, it will most likely host an AAC Championship game against the winner from Tulane in Cincinnati (November 26).

New Year’s Six Cup Games

Big Ten West continued to slide into chaos after Purdue’s 31-24 win in Illinois. That resulted in a four-way tie at the top of the division with Minnesota and Iowa, which beat Wisconsin for their third straight win. The Badgers are back in the game at 3-4 but they still have an outside shot to win the score. You have to imagine that the opening streak in the Big Ten Championship game, regardless of who is involved, will be north of 30 in favor of either Ohio State or Michigan.

There are currently 63 teams eligible for the tournament, which means we only need 19 more teams to fill all the places. However, there are only two weeks left for teams to qualify. The current projection is that we don’t have two teams, so Rice and Iowa State are expected to play ball games at 5-7.
