Elizabeth Hurley brings some holiday cheer to the big screen this week with her new movie, Christmas in Heaven. The 57-year-old actress plays Kelsey Grammer’s daughter, something she can’t help but chuckle considering he’s only ten years her senior.

“I don’t quite know how Kelsey feels about his daughter playing – I’m definitely older than his wife!” Hurley jokes for Yahoo Entertainment. But for Hurley, who rose to fame in the ’90s, this shows the kind of progress that’s been made for women in the entertainment industry.

“I think I’ve been really fortunate because, oddly enough, I kind of feel that in the last couple of years I’ve been offered more and got better roles than I’ve had in years,” she continues. “I feel like it could be different. You know, you often think when you’re a younger actress, ‘Oh my God, you’re going to get to a point where I never work out, or I’m just going to be shown really boring and [mom] the pieces.’ I wasn’t looking forward to that at all. I don’t know if it’s a world changer, or if I’m just so lucky, but I really feel that right now, there’s a lot of opportunity to have a lot of fun and play some really cool parts with a great heart. Sometimes it’s comedy, sometimes it’s tragedy, but I feel really lucky for that. Every day is actually lucky.”

Hurley is anything but tacky Christmas in Heaven. The movie was filmed on the island of Nevis in the Caribbean, which means that the actress basically lives in a swimsuit during filming. Hurley says she’s always ready for a bikini moment.

“Because, in a moment of frenzy, I started my own swimwear company, Elizabeth Hurley Beach, 15 years ago…I kind of had an obligation to be relatively beach-ready at all times, and it’s an insane pressure to put pressure on myself,” Hurley shares. “And I don’t know why I did that! I could have made candles or soap or something, but instead I decided to make a really small bikini. So I have to shoot all year round.”

Hurley explains that “it’s never bad to get back into shape” — she even dodged the dreaded COVID 15 virus.

“Lockdown could have been a problem. But actually, because I live in the country and have a huge yard, which always needs a lot of work to do…During the lockdown, I was able to spend 10 hours every day outside doing manual work. So though From that I ate like a pig, I did a lot of work outside in the yard, and didn’t put in an ounce, “I ate everything all day, which, you know, we should all do a little more manual work, I guess!”

With the holiday season upon us, Hurley is lining up Christmas classics to watch: Last Christmas, Bad Santa, At Home Alone And of course, actually love, Starring her boyfriend Hugh Grant.

“He’s great at it,” Hurley says of her boyfriend and ex-boyfriend. “I’m of course a huge fan of all his movies, but that’s a good thing.”

Hurley and Grant starred opposite each other in 1988 Kayaking with the wind, but they haven’t appeared on screen together since then. When asked if she’d like to change that, Hurley replied, “I don’t know.”

“I mean we met [that] The movie was 100 years ago and we were chosen to play our love interests against each other,” she explains. She made a couple of movies he was involved in, but then again, that was a very long time ago. I don’t know if we can work together.”

Hurley laughs, “We’re best friends but a) we’re going to make ourselves laugh and b) yell at each other! So I’m not sure how cool that would be with everyone else around us.”

One person Hurley will be working with is her 20-year-old son Damien. The actress is currently on location where she is starring in his first movie, in complete secrecy, who writes it out.

The actress, who is also a producer on the film, shares, “I’m probably the most nervous of my life because I’m all over the place trying to make this the best experience possible for him.” “We wrap up right before Christmas and after that we’re going home.”

Christmas will be all about “dogs, family, friends, food” and, hopefully, “not a lot of manual labor” at Hurley’s house this year.
