Shawn Young is proud not to call the Hollywood House.
The actress, known as the killer Rachel in Ridley Scott’s classic science fiction thriller “Blade Runner,” told Fox News Digital that she lives peacefully in Atlanta, where she can pursue films on her terms.
“I bought a country house in Atlanta, and I live near a yoga studio,” the 62-year-old said. “I can just walk out my door and go to yoga without having to ride in a car. And where I live, I don’t have to ride in the car much. I can just ride my bike everywhere. It reminds me of who I was when I lived in Santa Monica. When I lived in New York, I didn’t ride my bike like I used to because everything was too close to where I was.”
“You know, I’m at peace,” she said. “Life is so interesting. It’s not the life I lived before, which was so stressful. There’s big business here. There’s a lot of business here, and I think more people are migrating here. And I have a lot of support. I’m a good fan base. Some of the misconceptions that still exist about me exist in Hollywood with people who may not have liked me the times I was drunk when I didn’t. But I don’t have that problem today.”

Young is eager to travel the high seas and connect with fans. Turner Classic Movies previously announced that Young, along with Chevy Chase, Lainie Kazan, Deana Martin and other stars, will be sailing on the TCM Classic Cruise from November 12-17. The Disney Dream cruise ship will travel from Miami to Grand Cayman and Castaway Cay, Disney’s private island in the Bahamas. Attendees will participate in movie screenings, special fan events, and in-depth interviews.
Young realizes that many will want to ask her about the 1982 movie “Blade Runner” that rose to fame.
“I am proud of my work,” she said. “I had a great time working with Harrison Ford. He’s been quiet over the years…I remember the first day on the set, I was so nervous. I remember having to say a line like 25 times until Ridley Scott finally said, ‘Let’s go carry on.'” .’ But I was really worried. It all went well.”
Fans were surprised that the movie’s sequel, 2017’s “Blade Runner 2049”, Young only had a 30-second hologram.

“I got paid and that was it,” she said. “The problem is that guys grow up like hills, and they keep getting roles. But once a woman gets a little older, she doesn’t have the same security. I was basically happy to be a part of her. It would have been nicer to have a bigger role, but it’s kind of obvious” .
“I think this is just a job offer,” she continued. “People want to see beautiful young girls in parts… It’s not like younger parts should ever be cut back. I think there are a lot of really amazing, talented, stunned actresses out there. But you also want to see people progress because we all do it in life.” You see women like Helen Mirren, Meryl Streep, and Shirley MacLaine doing complex and wonderful roles. But I imagine they also had to fight for those roles. If there were more parts available, you’d see more women acting in other parts. But you also need the right kinds of The people who produce it. The money must be available. I think everything can always get better. I don’t think it was better at any other time than it is now… It could be better. It could always be better.”
In the 1980s, Young appeared in films such as “No Way Out” and “Wall Street”. However, she later became described as difficult to work with, and claimed that strongmen in the industry had derailed her career. While appearing on VH1’s “Celebrity Rehab,” Young described how she turned to alcohol to deal with the matter. Young insisted she was sober now.
In 2021, Young told The Daily Beast that she “really made men nervous, and for no particular reason.”

“Maybe there was a reason,” she laughed. “But I don’t know. I think the thing I probably wasn’t aware of at the time was that maybe I had better not be willing to share my opinions and let people ask me first.”
When asked if she still feels the same about herself today, Young replied, “I think I do.”
“I think if you’re in a stronger position, and you’re waiting to be asked how you feel about things, people are willing to listen,” she explained. “Now, the people I work with ask for my opinion all the time. They beg for my opinion. I always say, ‘That’s how I think about it.’ And I get a lot of respect from the people I’ve worked with. I’ve been doing this for a long time and have always been a good observer. I Trained observer. I’m not here just talking about emptiness.”
Young noted that “it was nice to see Harvey Weinstein come down” amid the #MeToo movement.

“It was PR,” she said.
In 2017, Young accused the former film mogul of exposing himself to her while working on the 1992 film “Love Crimes”. The 70-year-old is currently serving a 23-year prison sentence for sex crimes.
Young said her husband, Robert Logan, and their two children gave her the strength to continue as an actress.
“At the end of the day, whether you get a portion or not — that’s a lot less important,” she said. “Family comes first. Being healthy, safe and sound comes first. Advancing as a person comes first.”
These days, Young hopes what the future holds for her.
“Obviously, I love working,” she said. “It’s good to make a living doing something [you love]. It was amazing to me that I was still working at this age. And I feel good about that.”
